GIQuIC Workflow
Information can be entered into GIQuIC in one of two ways, either using an electronic health record, or more specifically, an endoscopy report writer (endowriter), or by manual entry.
Sites with Compatible Endowriter
- Patient information (e.g. demographic information) is entered into an electronic health record (EHR) and transferred to the endowriter, in most cases automatically.
- Physician documents procedure information in the endowriter.
- Biopsy or pathology samples are sent to the lab. When results are returned, findings are (ideally) entered into the endowriter along with the recommended follow-up interval told to the patient; this is (often) the only manual data entry necessary. The rest of the information required by GIQuIC is collected by the endowriter.
- Once records are complete in the endowriter, multiple records can be selected at a time to be exported into a file that can be read by GIQuIC.
- Site Data Manager logs into GIQuIC and uploads the file.
- GIQuIC does a sweep of the data to identify errors and/or warnings.
- Error – a required data element is missing or invalid and must be corrected
- Warning – a data element may be incorrect or against best practice and should be investigated for accuracy
- Data Manager can run quality measure reports in real-time to look at the data in the registry and provide reports to physicians.
Manual Entry
- Patient information and procedure notes are manually entered into GIQuIC.
- Biopsy or pathology samples are sent to the lab. When results are returned, findings are entered into GIQuIC along with the recommended follow-up interval told to the patient.
- Data Manager can run quality measure reports in real-time to look at the data in the registry and provide reports to physicians.
Compatible Endowriters
Compatible endowriters include:
- Provation
- Provation MD
- Provation Apex
- MD-Reports
- Provation endoPRO
- gGastro (gMed), gGastro Cloud
- EndoSoft
- Amkai
- NewCura (formerly Summit Imaging)
- Cerner PowerChartTM – GI Management
- eClinicalWorks
- Epic – Lumens
If you wish to participate in GIQuIC, contact your endowriter representative and let them know. They should be able to show you how your endoscopy report writer can capture the data necessary for transmission to the GIQuIC registry.
Please note additional fees may apply from your endowriter depending on integration requirements.
If you use an electronic report writer not listed above, please contact us.
Quality Measure Reports
GIQuIC includes real-time reporting functionality that allows users to run measure reports immediately after data is uploaded or entered into the registry. Reports can be generated that reflect:
- Individual physician or facility-wide performance
- Performance of the national cohort
- Designated time periods
- Performance goals determined by the GI societies
